Rob studied jazz drumming at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag, where he graduated in 1988. Since then he has taught at one of the biggest drumming schools in the Netherlands and has played in all kinds of bands: jazz, soul, funk.
Rob discovered during his many years of playing and teaching that music has a profound impact on people of all ages. In 1997 he decided to found his own school, based on a view that was new in the Leiden area. He found a suitable venue at Draadbaan 29, Leiderdorp and gathered a team of teachers who share his fundamental philosophy:
Music education should be available to everyone and the school should be the centre of musical encounters.

Piano teacher todays music

When as a small boy Erik sees a keyboard in action his interest is immediately piqued.
What follows are music lessons from the age of nine and the Conservatory in Amsterdam. Already at the age of 14 he plays in several bands.
He is currently active as a keyboardist in the band Kingfisher Sky and in recent years has provided keyboard and orchestral arrangements on several albums, including HDK's Serenades of the Netherworld and Stream of Passion's A War of our Own, and has been featured live as a keyboardist with Ayreon's The Theater Equation and as a pianist with singer Marcela Bovio, among others.

Erik has a clear vision about teaching:
I like to see the piano as a broad instrument. During the lessons, other keyboard instruments are certainly also discussed. I like to cover the different facets within technique, sound and creativity.
I would like the student, in addition to the necessary playing technique and theory, to be able to work practically and creatively as a keyboard player. Taking into account the wishes and level of the student, I want to find a fun way to achieve this together.

She earned her bachelor's degree from the Conservatory in The Hague where she studied with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho before completing her master's degree in New Audiences and Innovative Practice with Janet Krause.
Afbeelding
Vivian has a special philosophy: In addition to the "traditional" way of giving concerts, I am also very concerned with other ways in which performances are possible. I do this with The District Musicians, Duo Juna and the Ricciotti ensemble, among others. I find it important to really connect with my listeners and to offer classical music in a way that suits the audience. I prefer to work from the audience's desire towards putting together an appropriate performance, rather than offering a fixed concert format to each different audience.

Drums

Juen Schütt, alumni of the conservatory of Amsterdam.
At the age of seven he started as a drummer in the brass band, there he learned the basics of drumming. At the same time he took drum lessons with a teacher who grew to be his mentor.  He taught him the philosophy behind drumming.
They covered different styles of music, drummers and the importance of looking beyond your own instrument. Like for example, what is going on in a song?

Playfully, they discovered all aspects of the most beautiful instrument in the world. In this way you not only learn drumming but also the essence of music and (drum) sounds. A pleasant atmosphere encourages inquisitive and goal-oriented learning. Juen intention is to create an open, fine creative atmosphere where passion for drumming can blossom naturally.

Afbeelding
He played in one of Anouk's first rock bands in The Hague and played in Leiden with Karel Boehlee, Lodewijk van Gorp and others, so his experience ranges from Rock to Jazz, Fusion, Funk and Latin.
Jeroen on teaching: 'What I find very challenging is to start playing music 'from scratch'. Then your real musical qualities surface. It's like a confrontation with yourself. I have studied a lot of musical styles and actually played those styles live. The latter is very important, because playing live enriches your idiom and you find out magically new things, like hanging in a tempo or just playing forward. In a live situation, everything you have studied comes together and this is the only way to gain confidence and routine.
