Het Muziekcollectief teaches cello in Leiden, Leiderdorp and the wider area. We take teaching an instrument seriously therefore all our teachers are certified professionals.
Laura, Alison and Tamara, our cello specialists, give you their best in commitment, expertise, experience and conviction!
In general, tuition is one-on-one, but lessons together with another person are possible as well. For more information see the part on private cello lessons. You can sign up at any time throughout the year!

If you wish to play a really versatile instrument, the cello is something for you. On a cello you can produce a huge range of tones with various kinds of sounds, from very low to very high.

Due to the sound of its sonorous bass register, which you can actually feel with your body, the cello can play bass parts to support the other instruments. 
The middle register is the so-called tenor register. There is no other instrument that can equal the warm, round, full sound of the cello in this register. In the tenor register the cello sings and shines in all its glory. Both as a solo instrument or as part of an ensemble the cello has an unmistakable sound all of its own.
In the high soprano register, the cello can play in the sound range of the violin while maintaining its unique sound.

As a result of this versatility, you can find the cello in all kinds of ensembles: baroque trios, string quartets, symphonic orchestras, as well as pop groups. In addition to baroque, classical and romantic music, the cello can be used to play jazz, blues or rock music.

For children who wish to start playing the cello, instruments of smaller sizes have been designed. These can be rented from our school or from a cello maker or instrument rental agency (see Ulrike Wiebel or Scarlett Arts on our Network Page).
Hanne Steffers:  The cello is an instrument whose sound is very similar to the human voice, a beautiful and pure sound. It is an instrument that embraces you while playing. 
As a music teacher, I would like to pass on to my students what I feel as a musician: the experience and meaning of music and the joy of making music together.​
Paulina van de Pavert:  It is a privilege to guide young and adult students in their development on the cello. This beautiful, lyrical instrument is worthy of discovery.

Gied van Oorschot: ​Enjoyment is paramount in my lessons; everyone comes to class enthu-siastic and energetic and goes home with a smile. The inter-action between enjoy-ment and develop-ment is what inspires both teacher and student to continue playing the cello.
As a performer, I mainly focus on chamber music and historical per-formance. Elements of this are reflected in my lessons and form a nice addition to standard music education.
